UK Call For Action on Strengthening Food System Integrity
The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) Committee was pleased to onboard delegates from multiple regions and institutions for this year’s edition of the annual LTMUN Conference to grace the house.
Though the atmosphere was tense during the start of committee deliberations, member states slowly warmed up to moving for a motion to set the agenda rolling for the 3-day conference.
Botswana broke the ice by vouching for the house to adapt Topic B under the first motion on Pastoralist Farming & Climate Resilience. Senegal closely seconded the motion by rising on personal sentiment of pastoral farming being the sole sustainer of food security among their Fulani community.
The United Kingdom set agenda against Topic B to entreat the house to address Topic A thus moving for the second motion; Food System Integrity, Artificial Inflation, Counterfeit Ingredients & Nutrition Trade-Offs.
Upon presenting their findings to buttress the motion before the house, the UK stated that 25% of the world’s population suffers from food insecurity resulting in an outstanding 50% rise of child mortality rate globally.
Tanzania was acknowledged and seconded the UK’s motion, recognizing that focus on Topic A will save more lives.
This shared interest was revealed when over 50% of the house rose in support of the UK’s motion after the Bureau took a division of the house.

Indeed it was a great favor to humanity that members of the Food and Agriculture Organization adopted Topic A to strengthen the food system and by extension combat world hunger. As the delegation of the United Kingdom, we had one mission–to save the dying world; 25,000 people die a day from hunger and its related issues and to prevent our world from dying.
Excellent submissions and ideas by all the member states present which resulted to our resolution which passed at GA, we also wish to express our deepest gratitude to our Dias for being professional and dedicated to the committee.
