DRAWING DOWN THE CURTAINS: How #LTMUN19
After days of debating, lobbying and daunting committee sessions where delegate pit their wits in deliberating on issues affecting the world, the curtains were finally drawn to end the 2019 Life-Link Tertiary Model United Nations. It was a conference to remember as delegates from across the country and beyond converged to share ideas and experiences in finding long-lasting and pragmatic solutions to the problems that have been a bane to the development of the world.
Themed on collectively achieving the Global Goals (SDGs), it was a conference packed with excitement, surprises, learning experiences and networking from the organisers to the delegates who came from different schools and backgrounds. The last committee sessions for the drafting of resolutions in tackling global issues heralded the end of a keenly contested #LTMUN19.
The closing ceremony began with the presentation of resolutions drafted by various committees to the house. The ceremony was graced by dignitaries including the C.E.O of Life-Link Friendship Schools, Mr. Ernest Gyimah Danquah and Ghana’s former ambassador to Ethiopia, Ambassador Awinador Kanyirige. The former ambassador shared his experiences in the world of diplomacy and offered an opportunity to delegates in a question and answer session. In his speech, the former ambassador admonished delegates to strive to replicate the knowledge gained from the LTMUN conference in their future endeavours and dissuaded them from looking for shortcuts in life.
Delegates used the opportunity to share their experiences in this year’s LTMUN as well as appreciation and gratitude to organisers and colleague delegates. The ceremony was climaxed with a dinner night where outstanding delegates were acknowledged and the overall best delegate announced.
